In a fixed mindset, people have the belief that traits such as intelligence or talents are fixed. My wife and I are big believers in the positive thinking message shared through books such as The Secret, but the message delivered through Mindset: The New Psychology of Success adds a different dynamic to it all.ĭweck claims that there are two mindsets that people ultimately fall into fixed or growth. Prior to watching this video, I had never given much thought to the idea of Mindset. A few months ago, I was at a Ministry of Education SIM Session in London, Ontario and we watched a taped presentation from Carol Dweck that really caught my attention. Over the past year, I had heard quite a bit of “buzz” about Carol Dweck’s research on Mindset and how it can affect student learning and achievement.
